Students' Pilgrimage Tour to Bodh Gaya-2010
The group photograph of Ngari monks and young school children with Ven Bodong Ripoche in the middle at the Holy Buddhist Stupa, Sarnath Varanasi. They made a group pilgrimage and tour for 3 days to several ancient Buddhist heritage sites like Sarnath, Kushinagar, Vaishali, Rajgir- ( Vulture Peak ), and the remains and the ruins of renowned Nalanda University . At all those historical places, they congregated and recited sacred texts and said prayer for world peace and harmony, total elimination of natural disasters and calamities. At the top of the Vulture Peak ( Jagod PhungPoe Ri), headed by Bodong Rinpoche, the group recited the Wisdom Heart Sutra as the Shakyamuni Budhha, for the first time, bestowed the Heart Sutra sermon at this peak.
The Group Attended His Holiness Teachings:
Finally, the pilgrim reached Bodh Gaya, Bihar, and dated 2 Jan, 2010 and took part in the seven-day Gelug Monlam (The Great Prayer Festival) & His Holiness the Dalai Lama delivered religious discourses at the Kalchakra Ground nearby Mahabodhi Temple for 5 consecutive days, the teachings was Nagarjuna's 'In Praise of the Transcendental' (jigten ley depar toepa), Atisha's 'Lamp of the Path to Enlightenment' (jangchup lamdron), Longchen Rinpoche's 'Mind In Comfort and Ease' (semnyid nyelso) and Tsongkhapa's 'Short Version of the Stages of the Path To Enlightenment' (lamrim dhuedhon).
The construction of Compound Wall:
The construction of compound wall is in progress now. The barbed wire is being replaced by excavating the earth by erecting the wall to ensure more secure and safety. The construction work will be completed in two months once we have sufficient resource in our account to this end. Our In-charges work exceptionally hard to be able to complete the ongoing mission as soon as possible so that our children can move to the new room, and study in a peaceful environment.

Ven.Khensur Rinpoche's NEWS & Chabshu Holiday

We, the monks of Sera Jey Ngari Khangtsen ( Education Society ) are happy to inform to all friends and visitors to our website that Ven.Khensur Rinpoche Jampa Thegchok, the abbot Emeritus of Sera Jey Monastery University, was appointed resident lama at Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa and teacher of the Masters Program!

Construction works in progress:
Here we go... the pictures here are recently captured on the constructions site, as you see the Upper Block is nearing completion, with railing and floor of the veranda is painted red. We expect to finish works in the coming a few months, however it may take more months as the crop harvesting season for the local Indian workers and laborers is approaching fast, besides our limited resources and funds for the projects are another reasons too. The 10 meters depth Septic Tank has been dug in the very front of hostel veranda, and the waste water-passage and pit have been dug behind it. The Construction Executive and the wielding man are taking the measurement between the pillars of the hostel for the railings in the Lower 2nd Block. The new railing will come up shortly.
Even before the summer break, the student worked so hard cleaning the dirt stained on the window grill and the railings with sand papers even in the heavy rain. They also dug up the waste water drainage whole day to save the constructions cost. Our Thanks goes to our students for their cooperation and collective efforts in any way in all-round development of Ngari Khangtsen.
Summer Break or Chapshu in Khangtsen:
The ‘Chabshug’ or pronounce Chapshu is a week long summer break in the monastery after a long period of Yarney or summer retreat. The entire monastics strictly observed the retreats for a month and a half in the monastery. Even during the holiday, many great Geshe and senior monks remain in the retreat centre doing prayer, visualization of root guru and deities, accumulation of mandala and prostrations as strict dharma practitioners. The younger monks spend the summer holiday by playing games like carom board, table tennis and enjoying education related movies their own Khangtsen .
As before, this time we got together in the Khangtsen compound, prepared food and meals together, shared joy together in the genuine spirit of brotherhood and dharma friends. As you see in the pictures, our monks playing free rubber and table tennis in the Khangtsen debating courtyard in great joy, laughter and entertainments. The senior monks and the children being lined up for the ‘Final Day Feast’ which is a pure vegetable meals, nutritional contents with fruits and soft refreshments. Our kitchen In-charges worked tirelessly in the best interest of our children and Khangtsen over the whole summer holiday cooking foods and meals so tasty and delicious. The children too helped them in turn. It was one of the most memorable and enjoyable events for all that we made the best used of this short holiday……
