Monks spend weekend holiday at Construction Site:

Tuesday is the weekend holiday for the Monks of Sera Jey, which is the market day at near by town. All the school children and University monks spend holiday by washing cloths and going to market to get vegetables, posting letter and etc.

On September 23rd Ngari Monk students spend their holiday at construction site filling earth and carrying stones. At morning 6 AM monks gather at Construction site and have their breakfast – cup of salt tea and a piece of bread and started their morning work with filling earth. Almost 100 monks gathered and were divided into 10 groups. Each group filled foundation of 12x12 foot size room. As foundations are lifted 3 feet above the ground level, they spend half day filling one room.

Around 10 AM it was very sunny, all were drenched with sweat, hurrying to be the first one in complete the filling. Each group had one leader and there was playful competition, singing songs of Tibetan, Ladakhi, Nepali etc., and Younger students are busy serving water and tea.

At 11.30AM lunch was served – rice and dal with fruits. Tenzin, 16 years of age want to have another day like this. He said today’s works are too remembering the days in his village, where he and his family works collectively to survive family members. He said our Khangtsen’s jobs will be fulfilling as all the students are too curious and working collectively for Khangtsen.

Another student called lobsang, 10 years of age choose his room in the middle site and said when we shift from crowded room, my teacher and I will stay in this fifth room. Right now we are four and I am sleeping with my teacher. When we shift here we are two and I can sleep separately as others.

After lunch there is a break and In-charge asks all the students to join again at 3.30PM due to sunny and hot weather, while on the other side Indian labors are busy filling concrete beam.

At 3.30PM we once again started the filling work. Around 4.30 kitchen served sweet tea, some groups has complete their jobs and some are still filling. In-charge asked others for carrying stones. One student was hurt by a stepping on to a nail and another with crushed finger jammed by a stone, both are admitted at hospital and have good condition.

Dinner was served at 6.30PM and there was no power supply and monks and students have to take their dinner in dark. At 7 PM all leave from the site each wishing good bye and good night. The Two in-charge left fully exhausted but happy for the completion of major task.

From Wednesday, there will be no labor at 1st block and we need to water curing the concrete beams. 8 Indian labors will do unearthing for the foundation of 2nd block and our old kitchen Mess repair will continue for few more days for roofing cement sheets.

Success of New Bore - well

Dear Readers

Tashi Delek

We are pleased to inform you that our second attempt of drilling underground water has been successful after drilling 380 fts underground and got 2” of water which is sufficient for the whole project as well as future water supply for the Sangas

Construction is going on 6 days a week and stone foundation for the 1st block is completing. Each day there are sixteen to twenty Local labors from morning 9 am to 1pm and 2pm to 5.30 pm. So we are again with beam concrete construction within 3 days and have to keep for 8 – 9 days with water curing, by the time we will start earth removing work for the 2nd block.

Now the monsoon has also stoped and roads are good for transportation for materials for the construction. Bricks and crasher stone are unloaded every day.

We are really thankful for new donors contribution for helping the on going projects. And we also wish you in joining the 1 US Dollar a day saving for one year for the benefit of this Project.

Construction Re-started.

On Wednesday, we restated the construction of Hostel Project.

Monks are busy filling 2 water tanks from the hand pump bore-well as we have not drilled the second bore-well due to unavailability of bore-well driller machine. So, until September beginning students have to fill the water tank at morning and evening and pour water on completed concrete structures.

Ven. Lobsang Tenzin and Ven Chimey are two supervisers, and they say that weather is too sunny and hot, feels very hard for the Indian labors to complete the bed-concrete for the rod pillars within two days. So they expect to wait for another one day to complete the bed concrete.

Both of them looks very dark (burn under sun) under the hot sunny and they said it is really hard to stay inside the room at afternoon due to hot weather. So, they are staying inside the maize fields to relax for an hour at Lunch break.

Our prayers are with all of you and hope you can help the Housing Project of Ngari Khangtsen collectively through financial assistance. For more details kindly log on www.serajeyngari.org or write to us serajeyngarimonks@yahoo.co.in

Monsoon delayed the construction:

Dear readers,

It is to sad to stated that monsoon shower delayed the construction due to bad road for transportation and bore-well driller to pump up the water for construction. Shower follows around 12 cm per days and farmers are happy with bumper crops in this year.

Ngari Students are still joining at every Tuesday for placing and shifting stones form place to place. On This occation of monsoon time we planted 200 trees surrounding the border of construction site.

It is time to stocking sands for the construction as during the rainy seasons price will rise up marginally due to flows of water at river basin.

Workers are preparing rods for column and beams for the Hostel.

It is really hard to go at construction site time and again due to very bad road and mud allovers the road.

In our daily Tara Prayers, we are praying for all the supporters of our project and will touch with you again in our next message.

With best wishes.

From all the staffs and student of Ngari Education.
